Terms of Service.
Effective September 1, 2026
The short version: institutions teach, you pay per course, and your work has to be your own. Certificates are public records checkable by anyone with the serial. Refunds are available for 7 days as long as you’ve completed less than 25% of the course. The full terms below are what actually binds.
1. The agreement
By creating an account or using stochastic.ph or any institution site hosted on Stochastic, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Notice. If you don’t agree, don’t use the platform.
2. Your account
Give us accurate information, keep your password to yourself, and don’t share the account — one account belongs to one person, because grades and certificates are personal records. You are responsible for what happens under your login. Tell us at hello@stochastic.ph if you think someone else has gotten in.
3. What Stochastic is
Stochastic hosts courses created, taught, and owned by institutions — universities, professional schools, and training providers. We vet institutions before they can publish, run the platform, and process payments; the institution is responsible for its course content and teaching. When you enroll, the learning relationship is with the institution; these terms govern your use of the platform it runs on.
4. Paying for a course
Prices are in Philippine pesos and are what checkout shows. Payment goes through our payment processor on its own checkout page — we never see your card or e-wallet details. Your enrollment activates when the payment settles.
5. Refunds
You can undo a purchase within 7 days of paying, provided you’ve completed less than 25% of the course’s content. Request it from the Purchases section of your dashboard: the money goes back the way it came, and your enrollment is withdrawn. We may adjust these numbers for future purchases; the policy shown when you bought a course is the one that applies to it.
6. Certificates
Completing every part of a course earns you a certificate, issued by the institution through the platform. Certificates print your legal name, which you provide in your account settings, and are publicly verifiable: anyone with the serial can see the certificate page, including the name printed on it. That is the point — a credential nobody can check is not worth holding. A certificate obtained through cheating or fraud can be revoked. Unless the institution says otherwise, a certificate is the institution’s own credential, not a government-accredited qualification.
7. Honest work
Graded activities — including AI-graded submissions, chat activities, and peer-reviewed workshops — assume the work is yours, done within the rules of the activity. Instructors can re-grade anything. Cheating can void grades and certificates, and serious or repeated cases can close your account.
8. Community rules
Course discussion boards are for the people in the course. No harassment, no spam, no posting other people’s private information. Course staff moderate their own boards — they can pin, lock, or hide threads and replies — and we can step in where staff don’t.
9. Content — theirs and yours
- Course content belongs to the institution. Enrolling gives you personal, non-transferable access for your own learning. Don’t download, copy, re-share, resell, or scrape it.
- Your work stays yours. By submitting it you give Stochastic and your institution the license needed to host it, show it where the course requires (your forum posts to classmates, your workshop submissions to peer reviewers), and grade it — including sending submissions to our AI provider for grading.
10. AI on the platform
Some activities are conducted or graded by AI. AI verdicts can be wrong, which is why instructors can override any grade. AI output on the platform is course material, not professional, legal, medical, or financial advice.
11. Live classes
Live classes may run on Zoom, an external link, or the built-in classroom. Where the institution records a session, the recording may be added to the course materials; joining a session the institution has marked as recorded means you accept being in that recording.
12. Ending things
You can stop using Stochastic at any time, and can ask us to close your account at hello@stochastic.ph. We can suspend or terminate accounts that break these terms or the law. Certificates already properly earned remain verifiable records either way.
13. Liability
The platform is provided as-is, to the extent Philippine law allows. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is capped at what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you hold under Philippine consumer protection law that cannot be waived.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines, and disputes belong to the competent courts of the Philippines.
15. Changes
We may update these terms; the effective date above tells you when they last changed. If a change matters, we’ll announce it on the platform or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use Stochastic after that means you accept the updated terms.
